What is STEM?
Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Education supports children’s capacity to understand and engage fully with the world around them. (NCCA)
Mathematics provides the foundation for science, technology, and engineering and is the study of the relationships, connections, and patterns that surround us. Science, technology, and engineering are intrinsically linked and enable children to benefit from learning about and working with traditional, contemporary, and emerging technologies

Science Week 2025
Science Week 2025 was filled with lots of fun and interesting experiments! The children had a great time trying out different methods and seeing what would happen.
The children used a concoction of vegetable oil, vinegar and baking soda to create their very own lava lamps.
Science Week 2024
During Science Week 2024, the students of Scoil Bhríde had the opportunity to become scientists for a day. A huge thank you to the scientists and students of Dundalk Institute of Technology who came out to visit us for the day. The H2O Heroes brought along some river water samples to investigate along with loads of other fun experiments to try. The staff and students had a great day.
Along with a visit from the real scientists, our resident pretend scientist Miss O’Driscoll paid each of the classes a visit as well. We did some fun experiments involving some delicious skittles, colour changing rainbows and making slime.
